Our Client is a global leader in the repair and maintenance of high voltage electrical motors and generators, and related services across several industries. As part of our continued and impressive growth, we are currently recruiting for a Sales Engineer at our Sulzer Bootham Engineers site in Avonmouth to plan and carry out face to face sales visits and activities, so as to maintain and develop sales of our range of services to major accounts in accordance with agreed business plans.


Visiting existing clients to maintain our presence and develop them to maximise their potential.
Visiting potential clients.
Managing and interpreting customer requirements - speaking with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs
Persuading clients that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery
To increase your portfolio of Customers via a structured development plan.
Calculating client quotations
Negotiating tender and contract terms to meet both client and company needs
Negotiating and closing sales by agreeing terms and conditions
Preparing reports for the Branch Manager & Regional Sales Manager.
Meeting regular sales targets
Recording and maintaining client contact data
Co-ordinating sales projects.
Performing technical presentations and demonstrations of how our services meet client needs
Liaising with technical staff
Solving client problems
In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.


Previous Sales experience in an engineering environment would be an advantage
Knowledge of mechanical engineering service and repair industry within a 50 mile radius of Bristol would also be useful.
Good communication skills are essential to gain full understanding of customer needs with regards to technical requirements, delivery and cost expectations with the ability to ensure these needs are fully understood by our Engineering Workshop Staff.
A reasonable level of IT ability is essential to be able communicate via email detailed customer requirements to the workshop as speedily as possible, with supporting items such as drawings or photographs to clarify technical content.


A solid technical background in mechanical engineering
Demonstrable commercial awareness and market knowledge


Successful candidate must have completed a formal apprenticeship or training scheme in mechanical engineering
A formal nationally recognised qualification would be an advantage
Good standard of secondary level education


The ability to build relationships with clients quickly
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Resilience and tenacity
A valid driving licence is required
Experience of selling in industry relevant to the position
Ability to deal with customers effectively and promote strong company image
